Book Launch 'Freedom, Only Freedom: The Prison Writings of Behrouz Boochani'
Live session and online Q&A with Behrouz Boochani and Omid Tofighian
On 23 March from 17:30-19:00, the department of Comparative Literature organises the European book launch of Behrouz Boochani's 'Freedom, Only Freedom: The Prison Writings of Behrouz Boochani'. The session will take place in Utrecht, while Behrouz Boochani and his translator Omid Tofighian will join the launch online. Dr Lida Amiri
(Comparative Literature), who contributed one article to this edited collection, will lead the interview and Q&A session. There will be books available for purchase for anyone interested. In Freedom, Only Freedom, Boochani's own work as writer and journalist is combined with essays from experts on migration, refugee rights, politics and literature. Together, they provide an account of both Boochani's experience of imprisonment in Australia's offshore immigrant detention centre, and the wider structures of violence which hold thousands of human beings in a state of misery in migrant camps throughout Western nation-states and beyond.
